Sirene. Melodrama aeterna

for soprano, counter tenor, baritone, harpsichord, strings and looper (2020)

The eternal melodrama of girls and boys confronting the world and themselves in the face of chaos and with each other. The Voice of the Sirene / Sea is a call to embark on an inevitable journey, and at the same time a response to the need for a guide. But you cannot be sure whether it is a voice from within or without, and whether it is in your favor or is better to avoid it. The other person, made of flesh and blood, is also the answer, but similarly ambiguous and treacherous in various ways. It seems that it is the only real one. On the way to an undefined, incomprehensible goal. Growth through the stages of dying.

The composition was created in 2020 on commission of the Auksodrone Festival and the Chamber Orchestra of the City of Tychy AUKSO, with the support of the IMiT Composers Commissions program.
