Songs of Caress

for soprano and piano trio (2007)

  • Fragment 1
  • Fragment 2
Performers: Urszula Kryger (mezzosopran), Krzysztof Lasoń (vn), Stanisław Lasoń (vc), Piotr Sałajczyk (pf)

All texts in the work, which are poems by 19th and 20th-century Polish and American poets, seem to have a certain subtle quality in seeing the world, things and people, which could be described as tenderness. It is about tenderness, understood as broadly as possible: as delicacy, tenderness and caress, but also shared-feeling, concern, longing, commitment or even passion. The whole form of the piece consists in a gradual transition from a straightforward tenderness - loving, clearly directed, without understatement, to a different tenderness - somewhat cool, sad, slightly disturbing; tenderness towards someone elsewhere.

The piece was written in autumn 2007 in Louisville, with the support of the Scholarship of the Marshal of the Silesian Voivodeship in the field of culture, in the 2nd edition of 2007.
