Three Callings

for carillon (2019)

The song "Three Callings" refers to the traditional function of tower bells announcing important events, moments during the day, year or liturgy, or calling for meetings or prayers. The subject of the title callings is not clearly defined; they can be treated as a suggestion of critical reflection on all things.

The composition, intended for the carillon of the Main City Hall, was commissioned in 2019 by the City of Gdańsk and the Gdańsk Museum on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II.
